Travelers shun white Christmas and head to Florida, Orbitz reports (St. Petersburg Times)

Four of the top 10 Christmas destinations this year are in Florida, according
to an analysis released Tuesday by online travel company Orbitz.com.
No. 1 Orlando was joined on the list by Miami (No. 7), Fort Lauderdale (No. 9)
and Tampa Bay, which just made the cut at No. 10. Only one international
destination, Cancun, Mexico, made the list.
Beyond identifying destinations, Orbitz also examined average airline ticket
prices and hotel prices. Los Angeles had the biggest increase in ticket prices
this year (up 6 percent to $572) and Phoenix the biggest drop (down 6 percent
to $429). Fort Lauderdale, by far, posted the biggest increase in hotel
average daily rate, up 85 percent to $238; the average daily rate fell the
most in Los Angeles (down 5 percent to $87). The data was based on bookings
